I casually rest my legs on the wooden bench, white socks tightly hugging my feet, yellow Bart Simpson faces printed all over the tops, each one grinning with that mischievous smirk.
I slowly lift my left foot, sole facing forward, fully exposing the socked bottom. My toes flex gently inside, stretching the cotton taut. The socks are warm from the sun, carrying the distinct heat of skin.
Then, in my mind, I completely sever these feet from my body.
